Review on 🐱 Monoprice Cat6 Ethernet Patch Cable - Industrial Electrical Solution by Jared Bradford

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This cable is designed to be run in the wall if you wish Cat6

I have purchased this cable many times and also installed it in my walls over a year ago based on the CMR rating . I noticed that there is no CM or CMR rating listed on the case. I've always seen this printed on nominal cables in the past. However, there is a UL rating (E467139) printed on the jacket. I looked up the code on the UL website and this is the certification used for both CM and CMR cables. Both codes are for walls. I used a UL search that doesn't require an account, so I can't break down the details. For domestic use in a wall, CM is usually sufficient and I have no reason to believe the CMR rating is wrong. You don't have to worry about problems with home inspectors when you run this cable inside your walls. Some lots of Monoprice 23AWG CMR Cat6 cable using the same UL rating have been recalled, but it is NOT the same cable so don't worry or be ashamed. Overall I am very happy with these cables and use them both at work and at home. Nowadays I use Cat6 cables. I like the smaller size/flexibility and haven't had any issues so far. I don't use POE, but I'm interested in POE over 28 AWG as it's becoming more popular for some new home networking devices, and did some research recently. It turns out that in most cases this cable should be suitable for POE, POE+ (30W) and POE++ 60W (POE++ 100W is not suitable yet for other code reasons). The only difference in POE rating versus 23 AWG wire seems to be the bundle size limitation based on heat dissipation (although I wouldn't tie more than (12) 28 AWG wire just in case). See TSB-184-A-1 Supplement to TSB-184-A for more information. The 550MHz Cat6 rating for this cable shows that it's good enough for 10G Ethernet, so I'm happy to report that the wall mount I've created should be useful in every anticipated use for years to come .
