This nice quality shoe rack came with an Allen wrench to tighten the 8 screws that hold it together. It was easy, so easy to assemble. They even included white gloves, if you are so inclined, as a courtesy in the assembly process. The machined holes are exact, the screws fit snugly; everything about the rack is precisely machined and works beautifully. It’s sturdy, even when expanded.I expanded the rack to 31 inches and it took care the problem with my shoes and space. My incidental closet is small and the shoes shared space with boxes of artist lights, matte boards, framing equipment, paper tubes, etc. not to mention misc. clothes.As you can see from the pictures of various reviewers and my own, your experience may vary depending on your shoe size. When expanded, the rack accommodated a total of six work shoes, women’s size 9-1/2-10, with room beneath for another three. for a total of 9 pairs of shoes.I don’t know how this rack would accommodate high healed women’s shoes. I’d think you’d want more of a shelf for that. And, of course it’s not suitable for most children’s shoes. But for my needs, this nice quality shoe rack did the trick. I’m pleased with everything about it.
