Runs small - maybe order a size up

Runs small. I have a 16 hand WB with pretty average feet. Normally fits standard horse/full size gear. They were rather narrow around the pastern; and while I was able to adjust them, there were two main issues that prompted me to return them and kept me from ordering a larger size: (1) Velcro on the underside of the tongue is the "rough/male" side and some of them sit properly on the ankle (doesn't quite match the female side) - considering how close they are to the ankle I was afraid of friction. If that were the only problem, I would solve it by trimming the "extra" rough/male area to be smooth at the ankle. But (2) in the correct position, the flared boot did not reach far enough to the heels. They were about an inch larger than his shoes and I know he would take them off in a heartbeat. Maybe these problems can be solved by trying the next size up. But since I wasn't sure, I didn't try to order. One day I'll find them at my local hardware store and see if that solves the problem. Meanwhile I just bought some Italian rubber stretchers and I LOVE them. Lightweight and much easier to clean!

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Big and chunky
