There is a good range of bits to suit most jobs. Self-tapping screws deserve special attention. You are wonderful! If you've ever had to tap a thread, you know that the center drill has to match the tap or the thread is useless. These bits not only have a center drill, they also have a tap AND a chamfer for deburring the cutting edge. How cool is that! Because the tap is part of the same drill, alignment of the tap angle with the hole angle is almost automatic. It's fast and accurate. Compared to the old method of drilling a pilot hole, aligning the tap, cutting the hole, deburring the edges, I would say it's at least 10 times faster. Unless you pick the wrong bit size, one screw will do. ;-) There is a limit to the thickness of metal they can work with. The sheet metal found is not a problem in most cases. Cast aluminum wind chimes (external review) are ok. Just don't try to drill a 1/4 inch hole in metal. That's too much material, the resistance gets high and the drill breaks. Use the old school method of cutting holes in thick metal.
