Review on Yacul Extra Doorway Openings 29 53 by Tanika Spencer

Solid product - more of a sight barrier/deterrent than a wall

I bought two sets of these gates to block our two sets of deck ladders, ostensibly to hold our dog, and a toddler barrier. / young grandchildren. As you can see from the attached photos it has been fixed to our shelves at the top of the stairs rather than to the wall (as recommended by the manufacturer). Also at the top of the stairs - because we don't want our dog/grandchildren coming down and off the deck. The manufacturer recommends placing the gate at the base of the stairs, but this is not always practical and should be omitted from the manufacturer's instructions. Once I got the hang of it, they were relatively easy to install. I used a short extension in one hole and two extensions in the other. First I install the top on both sides. When they were tight enough to hold the gate but still able to slide, I used a spirit level to make sure they were straight. Then I pull up the top and put/pull up the bottom. I also bought the recommended rubber cups (separate seller) and can recommend them. If you press the gate too hard against the wall (or the jambs in my case) the gate door will not open properly. One day I found that I had loosened the gate with a quick twist or two, creating the gap needed for the gate to swing back and forth. The product is beautifully designed and the gate mechanism is perfect / child proof. We are satisfied with the product. If a large dog or a child (or a clumsy adult) throws himself at the gate, it will most likely come off, but that's not what it was designed for.
