If you have a MakerX hub and a 20V battery, this tool is a great addition to wood burning, soldering, and other "crafting" jobs ". I really appreciate wood burning, but I use it primarily for soldering and the fact that it's battery operated means I can keep it in my MakerX storage bag along with other tools I have and take it with me wherever I go. The craft tool has a digital display. and temperature controlled. It is adjustable from just warm to very hot. I have no problem soldering with this tool, even with medium thickness solder on fairly large wire. The heating takes place at the handle and not through the sleeve as with other tools. You keep the knob on the minimum and then set the desired temperature. There is a small stand that you can place the tool on while it heats up. I didn't find how to flip the display. I was soldering with my left hand and had to move it to my right hand first to set the temperature, but the display reads perfectly upside down and once I got used to it I was able to set it that way. The kit includes a silicone sleeve to prevent burns, it attaches to the end and covers everything except the tip of the iron. The tool is nice quality and worth buying if you already have the battery and hub components. The battery lasts a long time and I'm very happy with this tool, it's one of my favorites in the MakerX series.
