When something is called solid wood, it is implying something durable, like oak or even its cheaper counterpart, pine. No no. Use to make baby rockets out of it. Not exactly styrofoam, but close to the goal. Assembly was a nightmare. The pre-drilled holes were sloppy and unless you're very careful you'll go straight through. The hex wrench will rip your fingers to pieces when you try to tighten everything, so you can use pliers to hold the hex wrench, just twist the pliers and all. A few hours later, my fingertips still hurt. But now that it's assembled I don't hate it. It looks good from across the kitchen, easily holds bottles and glasses, and is pretty good for the price. Just don't expect a quality, strong and durable item to be made from solid wood.
