Essential tool for the correct installation of spark plug thread inserts. A wonderful system that is easy to use and does the job of a machine shop without a machine shop.
Although this kit is a little pricey, it works very well, easy to use, does what it says on the tin, doesn't break, can be used many, many more times. really professional stuff. The learning curve is almost nonexistent.
A very intelligent system that makes driver level repairs affordable for the average person. Self-leveling tools simplify the process. The repair leaves a strong steel spark plug bore liner that has been expanded to capture and seal the base metal. Modest maintenance and a new bore are good for the remaining life of the engine.
Bought a 12mm x 1.25 socket to repair motorcycle spark plug threads. Yes it's expensive but a great solution to my problem. The quality is top notch and a great way to repair damaged threads. The only issue I had was the rider tool was too long and got in the way of the bike frame. I ended up making a shorter tool out of billet aluminum for the seat cutter.
I've used Helicoil quite a bit in the past. They are fairly easy to use, but lack performance in some applications. Time-Sert solves this problem by using a solid steel insert instead of a flimsy metal spool. They offer many sizes, but this spark plug kit is for spark plugs only. They're not cheap, but they don't replace the cylinder head. After using this very basic set I will never use coiled coils again.
