🚗 CURT 112943 Class 1 Trailer Hitch with Ball Mount for Ford Focus - 1-1/4-In Receiver Review

CURT - Excellent quality clutch. For my Ford Focus this attaches 3 bolts through the mounting brackets and one through the frame. This is my third self-installed towbar and it was easy (less than an hour). The instructions for using the 2 hole discs/blocks are vague. I only needed two on the driver's side and none on the passenger's side (1 on the left). Model and year (the set includes 2001-2007). TIP: Do not tighten anything until you have the correct spacing.

It took me a little effort to install the screw on the right side, but the process was much easier than the hitch I installed on my truck. The muffler got in the way of my long torque wrench, but I managed to get everything up and running quickly. I liked the wire tool and found I had to use the wire out of the hole and pull back the bolt and fishing tool. I bought this specifically for my 2006 Focus hatchback. Video and instructions made installation easy. We ran into two problems: 1) The gas tank's vapor return tube (not shown in the video) was in the way and the bracket didn't match the holes perfectly. My first reaction was to just give it back. This is a well made hitch mount, in fact much stronger than the frame of the car it is fitted to. The installation took me about 30 minutes. , including drilling a hole for the right front screw. A fishing wire for this bolt is included for easy installation. I've found that threading the fishing wire backwards through the hole, then attaching a bolt to it and pulling the bolt back into place works better than trying to thread the wire with the bolt already attached. The packaging was a bit bulky but the paint was intact. That's good. The only problem was the rear screw on the passenger side. On my 2003 Ford Focus ZX5 it had to be shorter for the ratchet to fit around it. I had to buy a double thickness washer because the kit didn't come with anything with nuts and bolts that would do the job.
