These plates were fine for first use but when I tried to wash them (by hand not in the dishwasher mind you) the gold rim started to come off. I soaked them first so I didn't even scrub hard. Not reusable as advertised in my opinion. I won't buy them again.

My family loved this Christmas feel. They look like real plates that can be thrown away for easy cleaning. They are strong and hold food well. He heated the food in the microwave while the plate held its shape. I love them and will buy them again for the next holiday season.

According to the description, all items in the set are dishwasher safe. I had to wash them before use because I had fogged the house and the cutlery fell out of the packaging while the fog was lifting. The plates have held up very well, they still look great but most of the coating or paint has been removed from the cutlery.

I am using them for my dad's 65th birthday party and asked the waitress/waitress to wash and dry them for those who are late and missed dinner on the buffet table, or for those who want a sober snack before heading home. They withstood the test of short, hard use during the first use, during washing and drying, and retained their elegant appearance even after the second use.
