No, these are not exactly 'heavy duty', but the work well. I finally decided to put up shelves in my room and unpack my extensive collection of fantasy and sci-fi books. Some of these book ends are under a lot of pressure and they haven't slid one bit. I think getting so many of them for this price is a great deal.Edit: I actually used all used all the bookends from my first order and had to order another ten! Still having no issues with them.

This purchase was a great value. I'm using these to keep books, DVDs and Blue Ray discs up right in open-ended book cases. It makes the area look much neater without the haphazard leaning of the item. We have a large library of items so being able to purchase 14 pairs of bookends was fantastic.

Bookends are lightweight and disappear between books. They work great for our purpose. I also have them holding up children's picture books on another shelf and those get heavy.
