- The laptop is powerful, it is actually enough for most tasks and modern games. I use it at work and at leisure (movies, games). The screen is good, the color reproduction is not bad, the colors are moderately juicy and bright. the eyes don't get tired. very fast response, low latency and high hertz (240). MSI was not greedy with memory, they put two 8 GB samsung bars at once with a frequency of 3200 MHz. yes, it would be possible to stick 16 of one, but there would be a loss of performance if after the purchase no more memory was added. later replaced with Geil 2 x 16 GB, got up without problems, but works stably only when the XMP profile is enabled in the BIOS. Speaking of BIOS. a lot of settings, you can configure everything you want, overclock the laptop, and so on. I was very pleased with such freedom after laptops, where, apart from the order of the boot disks, nothing can be changed. I may not have the most successful processor, it turned out to throw off only -45 mv at voltage, lower already either in installation or in games blue screen. The built-in ssd is only 512 GB, fast enough. did not reveal any problems. The software from MSI is solid, there are many different features, from setting the keyboard backlight to different colors to enabling noise reduction for the AI-based microphone. There are several modes of operation of the laptop to adjust the performance and cooling system, you can also create your own profile. There is a MUX switch to switch only to discrete graphics, which allows you to gain another 10+% in performance. I did not use it, because. when using, the ability to adjust the brightness disappears, it will always be at max. level.
- The cooling system is a whole story. not perfect, practically only effective at very high speeds. Those. if the laptop does not make noise, then it can heat up to 60-80 degrees in idle. I am not very comfortable when the laptop case is warmer than warm (not hot, but it feels like it is heating up). I changed the factory paste, bought it specially with high conductivity and applied liquid thermal pads to the memory chips and the power supply of the processor with the video card. At first it helped, it was 40-60 degrees at idle. Then the picture came back. In general, you can only put up with heating, because the fans here are not super quiet, they make noise like a boiler under load, and MSI clearly saved money with heat removal in the form of a cooling system radiator, as well as with the turntables themselves. It would be better if they increased the cooling area, added more and better radiators and put other turntables, but oh well. My laptop turned off from overheating only once, when I left the cooling mode silent and the laptop stood without a stand, like a console, and I played God Of War. Periodic cleaning of the laptop helps to reduce noise and throw off a couple of degrees. Sound. He greatly disappointed me in the sense that out of the box the laptop sounds just NOTHING, the sound is like from a barrel, it's just boring flat and uninteresting. Macbooks sound two heads higher. This problem is solved only by installing all proprietary utilities and drivers for sound and equalization. Drivers and utilities are needed in order to be able to make equalization in the laptop settings. Maybe it will be useful to someone, for a long time I picked up a sound such that the speakers sounded clear, a little bassy and at the same time the sound was pleasant to the ear, because even the galaxy tab s6 lite tablet sounds better than this laptop out of the box. I'll leave the settings in the comments. The camera and microphone are just average. When communicating in different applications, the exposure floats, the picture can become either too dark or too light. Usually passes after you move in the frame. The microphone is not super clear and quiet, you can hear mostly in the vicinity.
- the overall quality of the device is at the highest level. MSI GP66 is the same device as MSI GE66 except for the lack of Thunderbolt 4, card reader and a couple of other small things. MSI GE is a pre-top line with premium materials and the highest quality of the device. MSI GP66 is essentially a top device for relatively little money.
- the only thing that I don’t like is the charging connector, since always when you are working on a laptop you have to think about not hitting a strongly protruding plug with your foot. there is no way to adjust the timings in bios
