They buff up the rough edges of nails and smooth them so there aren't any annoying little bits to catch on things.They're not so great at removing length. I use the "Czech glass" nail files for shaping my nails. These nano glass files have a much finer abrasive so they are not as effective for shaping, but they work great for buffing the fronts and edges of my nails. I love the nano glass files. I've had a few different types and these are the actual good type. Not the kind that are more like etched glass. Those type don't work for very long at all. This set if very nice. It is portable, 2 nano nail files are included, each one with each one leather type case. This allows to carry them in your purse or just leave it in a drawer and protect them.The shape is different from the other ones, it is stylish and functional.I love nano nail files because they are gentle, yet effective on my nails. These are really pretty nail files. They each have their own carrying case. The case is made very well and looks nice too. The file itself is a very thick glass. It files my nails much better than the typical Emory boards. They’re easy to cleans after use too.
