Description of πŸ”§ CNC Machined Aluminum A Pillar Grab Handle Repair for Dodge Ram 1500, 2500, 3500 (2002-2009)

The A pillar grab handle in '2002-'2009 Dodge Ram trucks is a known weak spot in the interior. Over time, to much weight on it can cause the mounting points to break or split. This Grab Handle Repair Kit has four aluminum bushings that reinforce the mounting points to help prevent the grab handle from breaking or to repair one that has already failed. The kit will work for either the drivers side, or passengers side. One kit will repair or reinforce one pillar. The kits now includes replacement bolts. These bolts are there to use should the stock bolts not fit the smaller bushing. Dodge changed the size of the captivated washer at some point, making it larger thinking it would fix the weak point.

Sometimes it will solve the problem.

They work with certain types of pocket breaks, but not all. One hole was repaired normally, but nothing was done to the other. Fortunately, I pull myself up more on the handlebars than on the handrail.

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • Very expensive

The handrails in each truck are much stronger than the new

Easy to install, I used a small JB weld and put it together and it was so much stronger than it was new before it broke. Hey, if as a woman I can attach my handrails with this. So you can. They are a little expensive

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • old

Works great but wrong display

The display says "fix the one that's already broken" but doesn't say failures should be limited to cracks. If the bottom of the supports is completely broken (like in my drawing) they won't work. You need to buy new shelves.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Expensive but great idea - I recommend

. My only complaint is that the price seems high for what they are. But then I'm so happy that someone is making and selling these. Seems to be a great solution to this well-known Dodge Ram quality issue.

Pros
  • . Comfortable to use
Cons
  • . Other

Reinforces an inherently weak design

These aluminum bushings do an excellent job of reinforcing the plastic arm mounts on the Dodge Ram's A-pillar. Repaired a broken bracket and reinforced another before it broke on a 2004 RAM 3500. The lack of included instructions makes searching the web for installation videos a good idea. The main caveat is not to over-tighten the bolts when inserting them into the A-pillar.

Pros
  • Fair performance
Cons
  • No performance

A must have with these buttons

You can't expect a 17 year old truck like my Ram '04 to be perfect. I was still surprised to learn the hard way how loosely those plastic knobs attach to the A-pillar. My stock crank was messed up so I ordered a few aftermarkets which seemed to have an improved design (gap fully closed). I was still using those reinforcement pads and figured they would work well to keep the OEM pads from cracking. It took some courage, but now I use the grip all the time like I used to on my Ford truck. I weigh

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • Pretty much everything is fine
