I changed the setup due to the garage's exposed rafters, had to add a couple of 2x4s to build a solid frame and then just used 4 latch bolts to attach the rail directly the 2x4 to attach. I consider myself mechanical and quite comfortable. The problems I'm having are not related to the wrong installation. This product is entirely unsafe as is and as you have been instructed to use it. This could have been made safer if the lift forks had a bit more camber so they would actually stop at the contact points. I am an engineer. This product in its current form is extremely unsafe. It can be made 100% safe with a fairly simple modification. The factory hooks will not stay in place if the bike is lifted unevenly and any bike that is not perfectly weight balanced front to back will be lifted unevenly. The problem lies in the factory hooks. Disconnect them from the lift rollers and unload them!
