Works well, low price, may require a few modifications.

Although the description says "easy to install", it's not. This is relatively easy, but you will need to locate the ceiling joists with a nail finder or by looking around and install some sort of wood spacer when the joists are in just the right place. Also, make sure you have your own hardware handy as the screws that came with it were soft and the heads were force removed. Once I figured out the circuit and laid out the tools, the install itself went pretty smoothly. If you lose yourโ€ฆ

Hooks don't feel secure

I changed the setup due to the garage's exposed rafters, had to add a couple of 2x4s to build a solid frame and then just used 4 latch bolts to attach the rail directly the 2x4 to attach. Most importantly, I unscrewed the "hooks" and threw them in the trash! I replaced the hooks with Velcro and EasyHang carabiners. They cost $6 at Revain and are worth every penny. When you pull your bike up to the ceiling it can't pull it straight every time, sometimes the front comes up first, sometimes theโ€ฆ

FULL HEIGHT BIKE FALLED / FALL ON ME

I consider myself mechanical and quite comfortable. The problems I'm having are not related to the wrong installation. This product is entirely unsafe as is and as you have been instructed to use it. This could have been made safer if the lift forks had a bit more camber so they would actually stop at the contact points. DO NOT HANG ON WHEELS AS THEY RECOMMEND THAT YOU CAN FOR MORE HANGING HEIGHT. When you attach the jacks to the wheels, they do what the wheels do and rotate, causing the bikeโ€ฆ

Cons
  • Big and bulky

I am an engineer. This product in its current form is extremely unsafe. It can be made 100% safe with a fairly simple modification. The factory hooks will not stay in place if the bike is lifted unevenly and any bike that is not perfectly weight balanced front to back will be lifted unevenly. The problem lies in the factory hooks. Disconnect them from the lift rollers and unload them! Replace the hook with a 1/4-inch threaded eyebolt (a few bucks at the hardware store) secured with a locknutโ€ฆ

Worked great for our needs

Reviewed by Quilt Female Husband: With winter approaching we needed a way to store her new electric bike. I have all my other bikes hanging by wheels, but with a 10ft ceiling, this bike is too heavy for me to flip and lift by hand. This system seemed to be our best solution. The installation went well. I first decided to attach a 4" x 48" piece of plywood along the truss with 2" screws and then attach 2 brackets to it with my own screws. I bought the velcro straps recommended by some others but
