Description of 55" TV Sony KD-55A8 2020 OLED, HDR, Triluminos, black

This 4K OLED TV''s powerful processor creates stunning OLED images in perfect harmony with sound. All this in a minimalistic design. This 4K OLED TV is equipped with an ambient light sensor that adjusts the brightness level up or down to provide a comfortable viewing experience in bright or dark environments. With the ultra-slim One Slate design, the screen bezel virtually disappears, pulling you into the action on the screen.

The purchase brought only positive emotions.

Sadly, after 2-3 hours of viewing, my eyes get very tired, if I continue watching, then my head starts to hurt. Previously, I did not see this on my other TVs (before that, the main TV was Sony KD-55X9005). This is probably a feature of OLED technology, although I look at 80-90% brightness and PWM should not have such an effect. Maybe it's just old age creeping up :)

Pros
  • In general, in terms of parameters, I like this model. The picture quality in 4K HDR is excellent, detailed (in general, looking ahead, high-resolution content is very pleasing to the eye), bright, juicy image (you can adjust to your taste), natural colors, Smart-TV on Android is quite convenient and smart, stylish design , good workmanship (I have a model for the European market KD-55A85). Additionally, I bought a remote control with a backlight and a metal top panel on eBay, I really like it and, for me, it’s convenient (some users scold it), it’s a matter of taste. I watch content exclusively over the network (Wi-Fi), since I don’t have any antennas and haven’t connected a twisted pair cable yet, this is quite enough. Over the years, a lot of films have accumulated (mostly from torrents), and I thought that the main source would be a 10TB WD hard drive, but it turned out that almost everything is available on streaming services, and this is also enough for me. HD 1080 content is also not bad (it is much more than 4K), but there are already noticeable shortcomings, which are discussed below.
Cons
  • Noticeable banding on HD 1080, especially on very dark scenes (in general, dark scenes are processed noticeably worse than 4K), smoothness of movement sometimes suffers (especially noticeable on slow scenes and panoramic shots, no Motionflow settings help). On the one hand, black in OLED is really very black, but on the other hand, if you want more resolution in terms of brightness, then the picture is either strongly contrasted or not bright enough (when the contrast is reduced, the brightness is greatly reduced). I didn’t like the content with low resolution at all (it’s unpleasant to watch below 720 points), you can’t help it - we got spoiled :)
