Weller D550 Soldering Gun Replacement Tips (7250W) - Pack of 2 High-Quality Tips Review

Swapped out my old tips and replaced them with these. It's like a new soldering iron. Works great now. Saved me from buying a new gun.

Installation requires a bit of work but is not that difficult. Remember to put the nuts back on the ends before bending the ends to fit the holes. Makes the 45-year-old Weller look like new. Two tips should go a long way for me.

I ordered 2 soldering gun tips but got "100 super sharp (razor sharp I think) blades". Haven't received the soldering tips yet but I'm sure the tips and blades will be quite suitable although probably not interchangeable. EDIT: I finally got my hands on some soldering tips. They were correct and intact.

These tips come with straight ends, not the "curved" ends of the tips they replaced. So I had to use an electrician's pliers to cut the ends off my old tips and reuse those draw bolts with these new tips, "bend" the ends on the new tips, put the new tips in a locksmith's vise and twist them hammer in . new cocks with a mason's hammer - that doesn't mean you can't think of a way too.

I expected a Weller replacement product to be as good as the original, but I was disappointed. This soldering tip works, but not as well as the ones with a lot more copper. They don't heat up as quickly and keep you warm as we would like. Maybe they are spin-offs and not original Weller products. Anyway, if you can't find a better soldering tip at the local hardware store (assuming you still have one) and you need it - what else can you do but buy one.
