Out of service: distributors and parts

These GM Vortech caps are a hit no matter what brand you buy. Unfortunately, this time I got a defective case. I installed it like every 6 months and this time misfired with this new cap but when I put my old one back on it worked great and yes the firing order was correct.

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Many items

Stick to genuine parts

After using some cheap distributor caps this one worked really well. I had problems with moisture penetration which caused problems on wet or rainy mornings. When I checked cheap covers from other manufacturers, they always had corrosion. My truck now always starts with no problems and my check engine light no longer comes on.

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • Skinny

ac delco coming over again

I pulled a year old Mexican distributor cap from my local auto parts store and it looked burnt and melted. The original GMC cover lasted over 10 years. I hope this ac delco will do the same. Edit: It's been 1.5 years and I decided to take the cover off and have a look inside. I was very impressed. The contacts looked almost new. and the engine runs great. I haven't seen the rotor but I think it's in good condition too. Glory ac delco.

2004 Chevy Blazer 4.3

2004 Chevy Blazer. Started hard to start then I left it for a month due to Covid quarantine and it wouldn't start at all. Almost starts, bang, but doesn't start. I removed the distributor cover, all contacts were oxidized. Replaced cap and rotor, started immediately, works great! Buy the AC Delco brand to save yourself the trouble of doing it all over again. Also make sure to clean the two screens at the bottom of the manifold, this will help dry out any moisture in the future.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Almost OK

Happy with the product in Manifolds & Parts

Impressed that the original cap was still on at 128,000 miles and didn't show much wear but a lot of corrosion. So I have high hopes for these. I don't know how they managed to control wear so well, but apparently they did. Honda does this by making the button 4 inches long and it wears out under spring pressure but this thing doesn't do anything but it doesn't really seem to wear out either. I would be wary of the aftermarket because if they didn't make the knob out of the same material as the

ACDelco D328A OE GM Distributor Cap 2001 GMC Jimmy 4.3 liter

Great quality as expected from ACDelco. Due to very poor GM engineering on these particular vehicles, I have to replace both the distributor cap and rotor on this vehicle about every two years. If you're using an aftermarket brand other than ACDelco, you'll need to replace them much sooner! Personally stick to genuine ACDelco parts with professional quality. You won't regret what you did. Although they cost more, they are definitely worth it.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other kits

Just installed, engine runs like new again

I had a stock cap and rotor kit on my 2000 Chevy Astro (6 cyl Vortec 4.3L) which was also purchased from Revain. It only lasted 15 months, for a total of 3,700 miles. We don't use this van every day. That month the engine was missing a cylinder, accompanied by a bumpy run and lack of power. The AC Delco kit cost twice as much but solved the problem immediately. I'm sure it will last longer than the previous set. As so often, my attempt to save money last year meant that I still had to buy…
