I want to love him but.

Overall, this is a great Chromebook. Easy to use right out of the box. But there are a few nasty design flaws. First the left shift key was placed a whole row down because for some reason they found it necessary to place a random "search" button right where the shift key should have been! So if you are an experienced typist, every time you type a capital letter, you press a very destructive search button and the whole search box pops up. This is beyond annoying and really makes it difficult to…

Excellent Chromebook

Anyone looking at a Chromebook these days and trying to choose one is faced with a dilemma. So many to choose from and in so many price points and feature sets. This is my first encounter with a Chromebook and I did it because it seems like the operating system is pretty mature these days and manufacturers are coming up with designs with great features. Sets at very aggressive prices. In any case, this is the first Chromebook I started my adventure with precisely because it offered the right…

Completely died after two months

I bought this mainly for my kid to do school stuff - perfect as the school also uses Chromebooks I thought so. Since I bought it closer to summer (May 21, 2020) it has only been used a few times. Yesterday (3 Aug 2020) we had to use it and it was dead. Like nothing. The power button doesn't light up, I'm trying to charge, it doesn't light up. NOTHING. Damage to the body, screen, etc. no, so it's not like they were treated rudely. It just won't work. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

  • Special offer

Great little computer helper

The photo shows that I am reviewing this computer. A small pink sticker covers the webcam, in case you're wondering. This is a great little addition to my computer family and makes it easy for me to run quick computer queries and work when I need to. It starts up very quickly and is very easy to use. I'd say get a Logitech Bluetooth mouse and things get easier. The only downside of this device is that it is not a touchscreen. If you can do without it then this would make a fantastic addition to

Suitable traditional laptops

When my excellent 2015 Toshiba Chromebook started to fall apart, I started buying a new one. After reading that Chrome only supported Chromebooks for five years, I decided to look for a cheap one and that led me to Acer. Functionally, this Chromebook does everything a Chromebook promises, but the screen quality is woefully inadequate and the audio is really weak. I found I had to constantly adjust the tilt of the screen to see the image. And since yesterday one of the keys has been stuck. But…

Pros
  • Brilliantly made
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Light, fast and stylish - for leisure and leisure

I really wanted to like it. I bought this one thinking Chrome OS would be similar to Windows. It looks more like a phone or tablet. The system is based on a Google/Gmail account (your password/login is your email and password). It would be great for vacations, but I wanted a work computer. And after activating it, I found that I couldn't install the Microsoft 365 package for Windows on it. I would have to go to Google Play and install each program (like Excel) separately and pay separately…

Pros
  • quality construction
Cons
  • too blunt
