These modern plastic whistles of any kind are not silent. They're easy for humans to hear and won't startle a dog to the point where they'll stop barking when you want them to. They are just a tutorial and that's it.

Arrived on time and works well. It was a replacement for what I had lost. If you've never taught a dog to come, sit down with a whistle. Whistles really grab dog's attention, the sound is much better than your voice. No more yelling for your dog.

It took my Aussie about 30 seconds to figure out what it was for. (treats the participants). He is losing his hearing and we had to call him back off leash outdoors. We had to add lace. It's small and easily lost without an attached band or strap.
