Deceptive image - cable not included

The image on Revain is very deceptive. The product does NOT come with the pictured extension cord! As stated in Adafruit's info, it comes with a plug that needs to be soldered to the mini-hat, but an extension cord isn't included. Functional testing starts after I solder the cap and will update as needed.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Tradable

Ideal for small packages

Works as expected. I chose this branded display as I plan to use it unattended 24/7 for an extended period of time. The display is used to monitor various aspects of the service software running on the PI via a web browser displaying a specially designed web page. It took some learning to get the web browser up and running on startup, but that's probably true of any PI project. What I didn't know is that the display is designed to fit in Adafruit's own case. So the display was a bit wider thanโ€ฆ

Nice for the price.

I'm not good at soldering so I had to ask for help connecting the connector. There are some imperfections on the screen that you can see when the color is solid white but are otherwise unnoticeable. It's a great screen to work with and the instructions on the adafruit website are very well written to get you started. For the price it can't be beat with a stick.

Pros
  • I like everything so far
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product

Really cool display, great for a standalone Pi project.

This display is very cool. It fits perfectly on my Raspberry Pi 2 B model. Adafruit has its own image with built-in screen support, so all you have to do is write that image to an SD card and boot directly to the screen with the console output. Pretty cool. I connected a USB keyboard and was able to set up the Pi and run shell commands like "ifconfig". The screen is a bit narrow, about 40 characters I think, but you can still do useful console work with it. I like it because it's nice to get aโ€ฆ

Works as advertised

I was able to run this fairly quickly (30 minutes) on a V1 Model B Rasp Pi using Adafruit's "Easy Install" instructions and a custom Adafruit Wheezy distribution. I don't know why, but I ended up having to use a self-powered USB hub. Without them, the screen backlight would flicker even when I was powering the system from a desktop PSU (which never showed more than 0.5A). With the hub, the display is stable and bright enough at maximum brightness (controlled by PWM). A note: although one of the

This small screen is perfect for the Pi A+. A file is not required.

This small screen is perfect for the Pi A+ Doesn't require a complete reinstall of the custom kernel as the site contains scripts that patch Raspbian The only downside is that it doesn't turn itself off, it's more of a limitation of the Pi
