Do not buy the 2 TB – it's a Seagate SMR hard drive

The hard drive in the 2 TB HD770 I rewrite on 25 and a lot). See image. Seagate 2TB model number ST2000LM007-1R8174 with SMR technology. SMR is electroplated magnetic recording and makes writing and overwriting data on the hard drive very VERY slow. The fact that they HID that this is an SMR drive is key to understanding how bad this technology is. Why not enter the ADATA specification?. I will request a refund as soon as possible.

Pros
  • Brilliantly made
Cons
  • disappears

Need more storage at an affordable price

Definitely a favorite and a must have. Especially for the price and with the extra storage space. I also love the RGB lighting.

Pros
  • Positive only
Cons
  • Some issues

An incredibly honest look at Adata Drive.

So this one is a seeker after truth. I love everything about this drive, durable, reliable and beautiful. I'm a YouTube video maker and my needs forced me to switch to 2-8TB drives for a failover system. But if you're asking if I can recommend the Adata drive; Absolutely.

Pros
  • understandable even for the old
Cons
  • Not everything is as good as it is written

Don't buy a 2TB - it's a Seagate SMR drive

The drive in the 2TB HD770 I bought on May 25th is not RAID friendly and doesn't go well with the drive, which I want to use for moving data (available in terms of a lot of writing and rewriting). See image. Seagate 2TB model number ST2000LM007-1R8174 with SMR technology. SMR is electroplated magnetic recording and makes writing and overwriting data on the hard drive very VERY slow. The fact that they HID that this is an SMR drive is key to understanding how bad this technology is. Why not…

Pros
  • Rugged build
Cons
  • Damaged
