Increases the range of the radio antenna

Very good reception. connects repeaters and transmits up to 40 miles away. much better than the included antenna. You need to adjust the length for optimal reception. In my range for 2m 144MHz and Police/Fire/Ambulance and 70cm 440MHz my antenna is extended to 18 inches from the bottom of the BNC connector. Very happy with this purchase

Pros
  • Accessories and consumables
Cons
  • Poorly thought out

Self-repair of a loose plug

Radio amateur with more than 20 years of experience. The antenna is well built and very light for its weight. Will give 5 stars except when the BNC connector is connected to the radio the base of the antenna becomes slightly wobbly and this causes the reception to flick on and off. You can fix it yourself by inserting a thin piece of plastic between the loose parts to ensure a tight and secure connection.

Pros
  • Radio antennas
Cons
  • Upgradeable

answer to my problem.

A few months ago my 35 year old scanner entered scanner heaven. I bought a new Bearcat 125 and the antenna was way worse than my old one. I think antenna technology has evolved over the years. The man who sold me the 35 year old scanner from the radio store told me to buy this telescopic scanner. It works amazing and I reduced the static and increased the range. I wish we had places like Radio Shack where the staff knew what they were talking about first hand.

Pros
  • AV Accessories
Cons
  • Ugly Packaging
