Description of Aihotim Aquarium Sponge Filter Internal

[GREAT RESOURCE FOR OXYGEN] This square sponge filter provide both mechanical and bio filtration, and supplying the water with much needed oxygen. Helps keep your aquatic pets and plants healthy and thriving by creating oxygen bubbles in your aquarium water. [RECOMMEND TANK SIZE] One internal multi-layered sponge filter works in any aquarium or fish tank up to 20 gallons. Unlike the traditional filters, the gentle, slow current keeps fry or small fish calm making it perfect for the betta, dwarf cichlids, guppies, shrimp, and fish breeding tanks or hatcheries. [MULTIPLE LAYERS OF REFINEMENT IN ONE] This Square Sponge with three distinct layers of refinement has triple the strength of a single layer filter. Increases the oxygen solubility. [EASY TO SET UP & CLEAN] The square 4.3¡ ̄¡ ̄ x 3¡± (11cm x 7.5cm), simply install an airline into the unit and turn on the air pump then work. Using the aquarium water, simply rinse and squeeze the sponge a few times until the water runs clear. [SPONGE CORNER FILTER] Every 2 to 4 weeks, the sponge filter should be rinsed and cleaned. It is recommended that you place this in one corner of the tank so as to maintain the aquarium aesthetics and fish and other creatures move unhindered.

I don't think it works for small fish

This works perfectly clean very well but I found that the little angels somehow enter the filter from the side so I had to use it for bigger fish.

Pros
  • Hands free operation
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Wouldn't recommend

Can't even handle a 3.5 gallon Betta. The tank has already gone through a cycle, but within a week of installing this filter, the water became cloudy. I replaced it with a sponge filter, after 2 hours the water in the tank was clean again.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Doesn't fit everything

Poor filter pad design

Products come with dirt on the spout. It was probably in use. It is very difficult to take apart. When the filter pad gets wet, it shrinks. Unless you use a lot of filter material to cover the hole where the water went. The water in your aquarium is not filtered, it is simply pumped out.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Minor issues

Don't worry about fish and aquatic life

I installed this filter in a planted 5 gallon fresh water tank in preparation for beta testing. After a week the water became cloudy. So I will change the filters as I don't think this filter works at all. I don't understand how this section can work because the filter is surrounded by plastic that doesn't have holes so water can't get into the filter area so I'm not entirely sure how this thing would work anymore.

Pros
  • Multiple competitors
Cons
  • unreliable

Bargain: Aquarium Pumps & Filters

We use this primarily for extra water purification in a 20 gallon aquarium. The included sponges and rocks have been tossed aside and replaced with a simple wad of filter floss. In general, the device works great, fulfills its functions and is easy to maintain. This particular filter was chosen for its small size and it hides really well in the back corner of the tank. Ultimately, the only real downside is the extremely thin and brittle plastic. We will definitely buy more when other tanks need

Pros
  • Ease of Use
Cons
  • Quick Start Guide
