    Great little fire starter lens

I bought this lens to use as a fire starter in the woods and it does a great job. I had a small hot spot on the dry grass after a few seconds once I got the focal length right. It seems to perform as well or even better than plastic Fresnel lenses (and doesn't bend or crack over time), although I haven't tested it directly. This is a small heavy glass lens. Mine came with no scratches or stains, was well wrapped in bubble wrap.

    Scratched near the center.

This item was exactly what I wanted but the one I received has a small scratch/dent right down the middle so I'm not sure of the overall quality. In the picture they also look like they are oval, but they are round. Not such a big problem as the cost of doing this is minimal. I will probably return it and hope it doesn't get scratched. free!

An elaborate monocle for a very tall man

I have recently become very fascinated with the optical theories of the Renaissance wizard John Dee as they relate to the failed reform of the Gregorian calendar in England and the USA He designed Newport Tower in Roda. The island. I bought this lens to recreate some of his camera obscura experiments, but mostly I just look at the magnified texture of my skin when I'm drunk. I also plan to start some small fires with it. I will update this review when this field work is complete.
