Headphones OK Headphones not so good

I bought an "upgraded" set of headphones. Headphones weren't worth the money. I have cheap ones that work and feel better. The headphones do what I bought them for. The only thing I don't like is the twisted cable. It gets a bit unwieldy in tight spaces like my home studio. They have good sonic characteristics that seem to cover the audio spectrum I work in, typically 40Hz to 10kHz.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Can't remember

BASS! From 16 to 50 Hz, simple and precise!

I was looking for headphones suitable for electronic dance music and have been DJing on and off for about 20 years. You are perfect! The bass is UNREAL, tight and precise! A bit exaggerated, but that's exactly what I was looking for. From 16 to 50 Hz no problem. This is how beats should sound. I bought two pairs because they are no longer in production. VERY SATISFIED! It sounds like I'm in a room with fifty high quality subwoofers. These things are a HIT! I love AKG headphones, I have about 6…

Good sound, but painful and uncomfortable to wear (medium-sized head)

I've been trying to replace my old Sennheiser Px-100 as wearable and sports headphones for a long time. So this is another attempt to find a successor. The AKG sound is very good, the bass is quite powerful and controlled, maybe too much bass for my taste, more bass than treble (I'm no expert at all), but too much bass doesn't make the headphones sound very detailed or balanced; now the negative part; i would keep them but unfortunately they are uncomfortable to wear (i have a medium sized…

Get them while you still can!

I was looking for a set of portable speakers that would sound like my favorite open cans ATH-AD900. While they differ significantly from the AD-900 in many ways, their frequency response is remarkably similar. Of course, this isn't the only measure of how headphones sound, but it's a good indication of overall sound quality. Overall they remind me a lot of my AD-900 aside from the soundstage and noise leakage. The bass is nice and tight without overpowering anything, and the upper mids and…

The sound is excellent but very unpleasant and poorly finished

I just decided to leave my opinion on these after owning them for almost 2 years. They sound great with any type of music. Haven't heard any more expensive headphones, but the sound was way better than my old $50 Koss headphones and any in-ear headphones I've ever had. Initially I was very happy with my purchase. However, they become very uncomfortable after about an hour of listening and still put a lot of pressure on and around my ears even after a year. The strip at the top tends to dig into

Pros
  • Useful not only for its intended purpose
Cons
  • There are nuances

Surprisingly good for this price range

First I'd like to share my audio preferences to put the review in perspective. I'm a drummer and I don't usually use flat EQ. I like hearing both bass and treble very clearly. I'm extremely sensitive to distortion and can't stand messy sound reproduction. I use them as portable headphones with an MP3 player (creative zen). I listen to different styles of music: rock, blues, hip-hop, folk, jazz, classical and choir. I used to use Sennheiser PX100 (great headphones) but I wanted something better.

Best Sub C-Note Bass Cans

Wary of cheap cans after Audio Technica's recent structural failure, I resigned myself to shelling out a C-Note for something good in a sealed can. Then I came across them and sold them. However, it was sold with reservations. Do they sound as cool as everyone says? Without a doubt. I've used them head to head with my Grado SR80 references and let me tell you they meet and exceed some of the parameters that blew me away. With that in mind, I'll list the pros and cons: Pros: - Large range…

AKG - Great Sound Quality!

Purchased as a replacement for headphones. Since we knew for sure they were from AKG, there was no problem with the sound quality. Outstanding highs and mids and amazing clarity at low frequencies. Doesn't distort even when the volume is turned up, and best of all they don't shift the soundscape EQ when the volume is turned up, meaning bass and mids stay at their constant levels rather than flattening out. so as not to distort at higher volumes, but thereby compensate for the depth and quality…

Great bass for hip-hop/dance, not so great for rock

These things pack great percussive, resonant bass. Best headphones I've ever heard (I've tried about 10 phones in the $50-$200 range). These things make hip hop/rap/dance/disco/techno/soul feel right. Sounds and feels like I'm in a club or in a gangsta woofer car: boom, boom, boom! The high frequencies are very present but smoothed out and allow long listening as they avoid the hard edges of the ears with high frequency sounds (they are clear but soft). Much, much more forgiving than my Grado…

Pros
  • Rugged construction
Cons
  • No autotune
