Delivered intact

I have ordered 6 of these bricks for a foundry I am building. They came intact (a little off the corners) and worked great. I used a handsaw to cut them and only used 4 out of 6 for what I needed. With some Satanite refractory solutions, they endured multiple sessions, each lasting at least 4 hours. I raise the temperature above 2200 degrees and even melted steel once (2700 degrees). I'm happy with them and will eventually build a forge that uses more of these stones.

Pros
  • kilns and kiln accessories
Cons
  • unreliable

Not "just a brick "

These refractory bricks are a treat for my little silver soldering shop. They are soft enough to fit short tailor needles with needle nose pliers and hold solder pins. They are large enough to solder a large groove box, broach, or small brass frame. They take all the heat my jewelry burner needs. Now I have a few and I will be getting more to make a burnout oven. They are a great help for my hobbies. Thank you.

Pros
  • Pottery and Pottery
Cons
  • Can't remember

Good product, bad packaging

They insulate well and are easy to cut with an old carpenter's saw. They're pretty soft, softer than some of the other insulating refractory bricks I got a few years ago. This is not a criticism, just a comment. The bad rating is not due to the product, he would have given it a 5. I downgraded it due to the Revain packaging. The stones were packed in a box with other items and air-filled bags, but there was enough free space for the stones to move and bump into each other in the box, and theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Crafts and sewing
Cons
  • Fading
