. Drill tapers to a very narrow end. It also protrudes and has a very shallow depth setting. The slightest wobble and it breaks. Not very suitable for a hand drill.
The overall length of this tool is 4-3/8 inches. The measurement from the tip of the drill bit to the edge of the countersink is 1-7/8" with the drill bit depressed. As far into the body as possible. So if you're trying to tighten a screw less than 1-3/4". sink, this tool just isn't the right tool for the job. The Amana website states that #55154 is for use with #8 bolts. Most often I use #8, 3/4" to 1-1/2" long.
I really like this range of Amana countersinks. The tool has a variety of settings to achieve the perfect result. I've found that even if you lift the drill to clear the sawdust, I have to use a slow speed with my drill to avoid a fire. This may be because it's a cone cutter, but my Amana straight cutter countersinks don't have this problem. Other than that, it's the perfect countersink. I would recommend this remedy.
