Bought this for a 4.5 year old and ordered an XS (luckily got it instead of a 5T) and it fits him. My son is not very tall and weighs about 43 pounds and size XS fits him. It was cut close enough to his body that it didn't ride up, but most importantly it offered excellent sun protection. He was in the sun from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and never complained that he felt unwell and had not burned himself. I would buy again but be careful with the size. and even then those days are numbered. I bought this rash guard for my son as we swam a lot over the summer and I have to say I am disappointed with the durability of this garment. He has last year's Body Glove Rashguard in comparison which we are rotating and the Body Glove Rashguard is still in great condition! It's just getting a little small for him since it's from last year. He swam about 2-4 times a week for two months. I will not buy again and will stick with name brand surf gear.
