Not 1500 lumens for LED bulbs

This applies to 100W warm white bulbs with 1500 lumens. After installing the first one, I realized it wasn't as bright as a 100w incandescent bulb. I took a light measurement app on my phone and measured a 100w bulb and got a reading of 1430 lumens and a color temperature of 2900 Kelvin. By swapping out these LED bulbs I got a reading of just 950 lumens and a color temperature of 2800. That's over 1/3 less than the wattage rating, so I tried a few of the 16 bulbs out of the box and got very…

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Available in white only

Incandescent (100W equivalent, daylight, non-dimmable, 10,000 hour lifespan, A19) bulbs have many positive qualities:+ Output equivalent to 100W (15W, 1500 lumens).+ A19 'normal' bulb size (Many 100W equivalents are larger than A21). + Usable/safe in enclosed luminaires (according to the manufacturer's answer in the "Customer Questions and Answers" section). + In my garage door opener they don't seem to add interference reducing range. It's currently difficult to find LED bulbs in the 1500…

Glad I realized it was the bulb, took it out and found it very hot at the base. No, they weren't fenced in, and the lights were only on for about an hour. Yes, the lamp had to withstand electricity. Thinking it was an accident, I swapped out the bulb for another brand and threw away the smelly hot bulb once it cooled. Now there are no…
