These bottles are not amber glass, they are just clear glass with a cheap amber colour. The color came off after one hand wash.

The color is not the same as in the photo! This is a lightly tinted clear glass, not a dark brown colored glass. This allows the ultraviolet radiation to penetrate the liquid (like beer) and attack the hops, giving them a sour taste. Too much PITA to send back, but probably not useful for home brewing.

These tan bottles make it much easier to keep track of liquid levels when bottling and to look for yeast at the bottom of the bottles when washing. But ditch the cheap flimsy pads and replace them with real ones. If you don't do this, many of your bottles will leak as you pour, and you'll end up with a lot of gas-free beer.

I liked this product so much I bought another bottle to make 2 bottles of vanilla extract. Perfect bottle size, easy to open and close. I can order 2 more bottles for my daughter so she can make her own vanilla extract. We both love to bake in the fall and winter, and quality vanilla extract is expensive.
