Very easy. I was looking to buy a small keg but it works well enough that I can watch the bottle change without opening it. Adds a nice dark color and a mild oak-vanilla flavor. Now I'm looking for a really terrible whiskey bottle to change - any suggestions?

The whole point of the Spiral is that it should fit in bottled spirits. maybe because of something else but my clear whiskey that I worked so hard on turned dark grey/black after 2 days with this tree. I don't know why it happened.

Easily breaks down into desired sizes and drops easily into bottles. The taste they impart is very pleasant and not too strong for my sour brown beer. They are also very easy to "tie" with a thin fishing line for easy retrieval. Much cheaper and easier than using an oak barrel; inexpensive and simple alternative!

They work very well for giving my 5 gallon mead the right shade of oak. A NOTICE. This is to be used to flavor three gallons. I don't know but taste is very subjective so it's really irrelevant for this review. For three gallons I may have removed it early. Bottom line, the spiral really delivers the signature oaky note that you'd expect.
