I have a hammer that I inherited from my father. Once the old pin broke right on the head. That handle was easy to replace and now my dad's old hammer lives on. It is comfortable to hold and easy to attach. What else could you ask?
This is a hickory handle. I can no longer find them at my local home center. This particular piece of hickory is a perfect example of its kind. The wood did not crack or snap when a hammer head was attached to it. As with every other interchangeable grip I've used, it took some skill to properly seat with a wooden wedge (included but not pictured). This handle works well with the mason's head I use.
This is a great replacement for the hammer handle. The texture of the wood could have been a bit better but it's downgraded one star because the finish is terrible. After removing the fairing, sanding the handle, fitting it to the hammer head and finishing, this is a durable product that will last for decades.
Very good handle. The eye is just big enough that you can firmly attach it without working on it all day. The direction of the growth rings is correct, which many pen manufacturers get wrong. The V-groove is deep enough to align the saw blade as you deepen it, but not so deep that it's impossible for you to align. No knots, twisted fibers, flakes/splinters etc. This is by far the best I could have hoped for.
I bought this to polish my dad's carpenter's hammer. The large plastic sticker on the handle was difficult to remove and left a sticky residue, and safety instructions in English and Spanish were printed in black on the handle. Talk about spoiled experience. I tried removing both the occupancy warning and the safety warnings with Goo Off and the trim on the handle started to disintegrate into a sticky goo. I hope I can clean this thing properly. What am I doing, wasting my precious time tryingβ¦
