No on/off button and annoying beeping

Luckily a power probe that I don't have to press a button to get it to work and then nags a few times when it goes off in my shirt pocket when trying to speak to a customer. Hold it up to the power source and it will light up. I had the same one and the batteries lasted ten years. The only downside is that the pocket clip is plastic and flimsy and breaks shortly after wearing.

  • Few competitors

  • Not bad

The Best Non-Contact Tester

Amprobe is trusted in the industry and has been in use for many years. As an industrial electrician, I carried one of these in my shirt pocket. This isn't necessarily a troubleshooting tool, more of a safety tool that lets you know if voltage is present. Best of all, it's always on, no buttons, no auto shut down compared to some other manufacturers. You can just rub it on your shirt sleeve to check if the battery is good, it's glowing and the battery life is great. It's rated at 1kV, so it'sโ€ฆ

VP-440 - Outlasts all other brands.

I've carried this voltage analyzer in my tool bag for years. It works well after bumps, bends, falls and abuse as a screwdriver in everyday use. The battery cover will never burst, it will never turn on and die in a pocket. It's simple and streamlined. No buzzing sound, it is recommended to check the indicator light by tapping your hand to verify operation before measuring the voltage. The newer ones have a wider collar - this is annoying and probably the idea of some lawyers. It sometimesโ€ฆ

Works great, not overly sensitive like other testers I've used.

Great voltage tester for inside switch boxes and other electrical work. It detects live 120VAC wires 1/4" to 1/2" through the insulation. This makes it easy to identify hot wires in a crowded electrical box. I've used this a few times now and it seems to be consistent and reliable in identifying hot wires without false alarms. Some users expect this type of device to detect live wires several inches away - it WILL NOT, and it does exactly that . so useful to me. I bought a similar device fromโ€ฆ

Is it HOT (live)? This great tool will tell you!

I have electrical projects that require me to cut into an existing circuit. I can turn off the circuit breaker, but in the attic there's no way of knowing for sure if the wire I need to cut is off. My search for a reliable non-contact voltage detector led me here. I must have looked at all the different brands here on Revain. Many reviewers who were dissatisfied with their current purchase cited the Amprobe brand as something they chose or thought they would buy. That's why I chose this special
