but I think they are dirty inside

The lenses are all dirty and you can't see anything but spots. I tried cleaning the outside but I think they are dirty inside. Not very easy to clean. Actually never used which was a disappointment.

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • Reliability

Good enough for a 6 year old with a slight interest in science

This is a nice toy; as long as you treat it that way. It's nowhere near as efficient as a real microscope. But for a 6-year-old interested in "Cells and Microbes" it shows enough detail if you can focus it.

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Zero Stars - skip in Learning & Education

That's crap. We can't see Jack. We bought the one with the light especially so the darkness wouldn't be a problem. We also bought additional ready-made slides for children. Useless. I would have sent it back if the box hadn't been recycled as holiday packaging. Very disappointing. There is an extra lens - useless

Pros
  • understandable even on the old one
Cons
  • makes me nervous

It was way worse than what I read in the reviews.

I was hoping the bad reviews were just people feeling like it wasn't all they thought it was. But when I received and unpacked the microscope, I was shocked at how plasticky and poorly constructed it was. Please don't waste your money. All of this product should go back to the drawing board.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Annoying

This little microscope works great! Ready-made slides are very pleasant and help to learn to concentrate. When making your own slides, remember that unless you use some kind of dye, it will be difficult to see anything. I've tasted some water from the pond and seen something, but I think we'll see more as I add color. The grip gets a little touchy but still works well.

Pros
  • Feels good
Cons
  • Can't remember

My 7 year old grandson loves this set and so do I

I was tired of giving my grandson video games and wanted something that would make him think and solve problems so I decided to buy this set . It had everything he needed to get started: slides, batteries, everything, and the price was right. It's hard to find science related gifts for kids these days but I was glad I found this one. I couldn't be happier and he loves discovering new things by using them. It is worth the money and a great success as a gift.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

It's not worth it! Very cheap.

As a microbiologist I thought this would be a fun gift for my nephew (he is 7 years old). Unfortunately, this entire scope is made of flexible plastic, which slightly interrupts the light path. As a result, half of the field of view is permanently black (due to the irregular light path). This happens with regular scopes when the turret is misaligned, but you can't fix that with this cheap flex scope. For almost 50€ I expected more. Real scopes can be bought for $200 versus that $50 crap. Even…

Pros
  • So far so good
Cons
  • Tape

Not recommended for education and training

I had a microscope as a child. I thought today's technology would put my kids' microscope to shame, but I was wrong. This device is not suitable. You cannot adjust the height. So if the displayed object is too close, you cannot zoom out. Lenses are imperfect and give a "dirty" image with whatever is being viewed. I would not even recommend this scope as a beginner scope. Rather spend a little more for a better product

Pros
  • Built in LED for direct illumination and reflecting mirror for natural light
Cons
  • Not all suitable

Pros
  • Biological microscope for beginners, 48 pcs. offers 120x, 240x, 300x, 480x, 600x and 1200x magnification
Cons
  • Not as thick as other kits
