As a microbiologist I thought this would be a fun gift for my nephew (he is 7 years old). Unfortunately, this entire scope is made of flexible plastic, which slightly interrupts the light path. As a result, half of the field of view is permanently black (due to the irregular light path). This happens with regular scopes when the turret is misaligned, but you can't fix that with this cheap flex scope. For almost 50€ I expected more. Real scopes can be bought for $200 versus that $50 crap. Even some slide-size scopes that attach to a cell phone are cheaper. It was a gift so I can't return it. Too bad I opened it before the gift.
