Simple antenna, works well.

This is on my wife's car which is used with a UHF ham radio. Yes, she is also a ham. I like that it is black from an aesthetic point of view. As I said in the title, this works well too.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • Not the best

Excellent stealth antenna on GMRS.

Looks better on my black car than the silver stainless ones I lost. I use it on my search radio or over short distances on the 40W Motorola General Mobile Radio Service in the car.

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • Big and chunky

Not what it was designed for

The most useless piece of junk I've ever seen! It should be magnetic but it isn't! I am returning this item for explanation. The ad is completely wrong. I want a refund or credit for something that works. In over 18 years at Amazon I have had to return an item for the first time.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • New competition has arrived

Works great on GMRS

Works well on GMRS frequencies. I have it installed on a TRAM magnetic mount and it works on the 462 and 467MHz bands. I haven't bothered with the SWR as the performance seems to be working fine. Much better performance from my Baofeng UV5R compared to the Nagoya 701C rubber ducky even standing outside the car.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Negative present

Good GMRS option, best for portable AV

The SWR for GMRS on my meter is 1.11:1 for all services. Not as gainful as my Midland antenna with 6dB coil, but that doesn't mean I have to take it to park in the garage or drive across the street. Ideal for city trips. The biggest issue I see in the long run is build quality. The pads could definitely be better. Lightly lubricated with silicone grease to prevent seal wear.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires outlet

Not the best for an amateur

I decided to write a useful review about this antenna. For a $12 antenna, it's certainly light and thin. It cannot be reconfigured as the heatsink is pressed against the base and has no set screw. The description says the antenna is rated for 410-490MHz but is actually tuned higher. Below is a list of SWR by frequency: 2:1 - 430MHz 1.5:1 - 446MHz 1.05:1 - 464 - 466MHz 1.5:1 - 485MHz 2:1 - 505MHz This can may be useful to you, but is set up for commercial use. Amateur. Oh, and it's not black…

Pros
  • Dope πŸ”₯
Cons
