I tried them on a small Yeasu dual band handheld. I usually keep my radio in my breast pocket. This antenna is long enough to make me think; it will catch my eye. This antenna can be useful in places with poor signal.

These antennas are actually very good. Much better performance compared to standard duck. On the other hand, the base is quite oily. They barely fit TYT MD380 and Yaesu FT-70DR but don't fit my Icom ID51a.

I bought these for use with GMRS which they are not advertised for. They are advertised for the 2M and 70 cm amateur bands and are immediately ready for use for these frequencies. I cut the end off about 35mm which resulted in my SWR being 1.00:1 at 462MHz! At 467 MHz, the SWR is still 1.05:1. So with a little tweaking these things work great on GMRS.

Installed on my handheld scanner, my UHF NOW HEARS "mobile” and "direct” signals MUCH BETTER! The standard antenna didn't work well and many cell phones couldn't be heard at all. NOTE: To be honest, MOST of the transmitters I want are UHF, so I haven't tested VHF. Now weak mobile and basic UHF signals are SIGNIFICANTLY "improved". and nearby towns and services too! These antennas are worth their money!

I just ran these two antennas with an SWR meter on my Yaesu dual band walkie talkies. Since two such antennas from a well-known manufacturer would cost me $45, I didn't have high hopes. Boy was I wrong. Older antennas that came with radios indicated an SWR of f/5.5. (For non-ham radio enthusiasts reading this, this is a bad reaction, and as with the Golf, a MINIMUM result means a better result.)
