Small and powerful for portable audio and video devices

A little cumbersome to program by hand, but once you have the right cable and CHIRP you'll be fine, even on a Mac. The instruction manual is a bit cryptic and you have to follow it very carefully to interpret the translated sense. This may require some serious tweaking, but it's not impossible to use. For now this is a great little setup that puts out 25 watts of power. It's worth programming and driving off.

Pros
  • Got it!
Cons
  • You could have chosen a newer model

Shocked by the value for money

I was expecting mediocrity but got an excellent radio in its price range. Very good sound, nice screen, great features. You'll want to use programming software, but otherwise it's a great little setup. Less than it seems. Apparently, Anytone is at the forefront of quality in this wireless segment. Also understand that Anytone makes Alinco radios.

Pros
  • Absolute legend
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Overall decent radio

Overall decent radio. The manual is terrible, but once you get the repeater channel programming flow from the menu, it's not bad. Search for videos on YouTube. I really like that the functions of the programmable keys are displayed on the screen next to the screen. Anytone CPS software is hard to come by, but one day it works fine. Not all features are supported in CHIRP yet. The programming cable is not very standard. I made one but it took a bit of fiddling. Got good signal reports.

Pros
  • Stable test results
Cons
  • Some issues

Beautifully packaged and complete with the usual mounting hardware. Programming is relatively intuitive with a surprisingly readable and concise manual. You will definitely need a programming cable to simplify the programming process. The software is free and easy to use. The sound quality (incoming and outgoing) is excellent and comparable to professional commercial radio systems. The color display is appealing, well designed and well positioned. The handheld microphone is beautifully backlit…

Pros
  • Easy Installation
Cons
  • Crumpled Packaging

Good budget ham radio

Good quality radio. It has a color display and a good solid build. It's softer than expected, but all the more impressive. I can meet repeaters over 40 miles away with "good" audio messages. The menu navigation takes some getting used to, but is very manageable. Programming was easy enough with the help of YouTube. Or buy a programming cable and do this. I have used the manufacturer's software with no problems. The only problem I had was with the programming cable drivers, which were solved…

Pros
  • Excellent performance
Cons
  • Doubtful

Good compact radio with good features, but.

I haven't been able to transmit with this radio yet as I'm studying for a technical license but so far I'm very happy with it. The sound is good, very clear. There were no problems programming in CHIRP. I simply put in the make and model of the radio and programmed it to FRS, GMRS, Weather Band, MURS channels and it was all done in less than 10 minutes with no problems. I love the size and the style and the only thing I could think of to improve it would be to add a DTMF function but that's not

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Socket required

I (still) had the AnyTone AT-5888uv. The 5888 is a 50W cellular radio that I use as an indoor base station. I bought this AnyTone AT-778uv to use in my car. I've had this AT-778uv for a couple of weeks now and can honestly say it's a cute little device. There are a few things I don't like about him, but they're bearable. The color display is absolutely pleasing to the eye. I love it. This AT-788uv has the same mic and speaker as my AT-5888uv with one exception, the 5888 came with a button…

Pros
  • The best in its niche
Cons
  • Will be added later
