Very good lens for Sony shooters on a budget

I thought this lens wouldn't work that well but after ten days of use I thought it was pretty good. I took over 500 photos and posted some examples here. Using Focus Peaking I was able to focus and get the sharpness right 70% of the time. If you are open to manual focus and want a decent lens for little money, I would recommend the emeike 50mm 1.7.

Pros
  • Same as everything so far
Cons
  • Doubtful

Very good value for money

This is not a lens for video or fast shooting. This is a lazy lens and it's pretty decent for the price. It's solid and the build quality seems good. It's metallic and looks massive. It's very small, making it easy to work with the camera, although it's quite heavy for such a small lens. Definitely worth the money if you're looking for a cheap 50mm lens. Remember that it is MANUAL and no zoom. It's also a manual iris. You have to move a lot to get the shot exactly where you want it.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Almost OK

It's durable, easy to use and takes a fantastic shot at f/1.7. Does he have trouble concentrating on the outside of the frame? Of course it's not perfect, but other than that the frame is almost perfect. I bought it because I want to shoot at f1.7 so the focus issues I had on the outside of the frame don't bother me at all and I'm not a pro. I'm just a guy who loves to photograph stars, my kids and landscapes. It was way more than I expected for the price!

Good price - camera and photo

What I really like about this lens, apart from the size and fairly good build quality, is that it gives the images a cinematic feel. What I don't like is that it's too narrow (particularly difficult to remove the lens) and what I VERY dislike is the style of the aperture ring: it's silent (which can be good for video but extremely uncomfortable) . annoying for a photographer like me) and it's positioned where the focus ring should be. So can I recommend this lens? Actually yes, because of the…

OMG THIS LENS IS AMAZING!

I bought this for my Sony A7iii and Sony A5000 and can't believe the picture quality of this $109 thing. It looks just as good as a lens I've spent three times as much on. It has a nice sharp or semi-sharp image with lots of bokeh that looks very cinematic for video and allows you to take very professional-quality photos. I actually plan on buying another one so I can have two. I want to know if this lens is part of a series so I can buy 35mm and 85mm of the same series. Remember this is a…

as if someone moved the sharpness slider on LR to position.

Used on Sony A7 iii The manual focus ring is quite heavy. You don't have to worry about accidentally moving the focus ring. I've never been able to sharpen part of the frame with the aperture wide open. The sharpness is higher than 5.6. The images I got looked "dreamy" like someone had turned the sharpness slider to the left on LR. In the end the lens went back as it didn't suit my style of photography. However, if you're after a fast 50mm lens and don't mind soft images at a larger aperture…
