Decent block, suitable for firearms

Sturdy construction. It takes 30-45 seconds to reach the effective soldering temperature. Because it's a trigger gun, if soldering is only occasional during a work session, the wait time per soldering will add up.

Pros
  • Welding and soldering
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Works - tried second unit

This second D550 unit works. The warm-up takes about a minute. Then provide lots of heat. The packaging is very flimsy and can only be described as a "soldering iron kit" because it includes a hex head screw. hope it lasts

Pros
  • guns
Cons
  • don't remember

Soldered two connectors and stopped working

I soldered two connectors to 16 gauge wire. The next time I tried to use it, it didn't heat up. The light comes on but does not heat up, after holding down the trigger for more than a minute, you can still touch the tip with your bare finger, still cool.

Pros
  • Soldering and Soldering Equipment
Cons
  • not reliable
