🐠 Optimized API Filter Pad for Aquariums Review

I've used these and cheaper aftermarket alternatives and this is the best option. The price is a bit high considering the material, but they filter better and last better in the filter. Some alternatives clean you once and they start to break down, so replace them every time you change the filter. They can be washed several times and keep their shape.

We have a 55 gallon tank with a Rena XP2 filter block. From bottom to top we use 2-20, then 2-30, in the next basket activated carbon, then biochemical stars with two microfiltration pads to complete it. Works very well. Change filters every 2-3 months and never had any problems although we tend to overfeed :-( Haven't noticed any real difference to the SUPER filters.

I wrote for another review of these sponges, I really appreciate the PPI sponge sales API. I love using them on everything from canister filters to cooktops. I prefer to go from 20 ppi upwards until I get to fine filters, then more biological media and then Seachem Purigen. Or go the GreenAqua route and go straight from 30ppi to organic backings, purigen and finally thin pads. Crystal clear water every time.

I have this to put on the Eshopps sponge I use in my Biocube 14 as another filter layer. Because it's white you can really see how much it filters out, but if used as a micro filter there may be better products out there in my opinion. Very good micro filter. These white filters are broken down and then replaced with every cleaning. I don't rinse and use them like sponge filters. They do a good job with the filtration system and keep the water clean. I use several different filters in my canister and each filter does the job of keeping the water clean. I disassemble the tank and canister every two months. By then the canister and filters will be dirty, but the water in the tank still looks decent.

I will be copying this review for some of their products as they all work together and I am equally happy with all of them. I use these filters with a Filstar XP3 to keep a 100 gallon pond clean.
