I wanted a few degrees cooler than the AS-5 but instead my temperature went up a few degrees. I'm running an i9 9900K at 5GHz and with the AS-5 my high load tests maxed out at 79C. Now they've climbed to 84C. I applied CPU Equalization and am using a Corsair 150i AIO. I'm getting a new memory tomorrow so I can take it apart and reattach it to make sure it's not a bad spot between the sink and the chip.

The processor got very hot and I noticed that the fins of the heat sink were clogged with dust. Cleaned it up, wiped away the old dried paste with rubbing alcohol and used the Arctic MX-4 before reinstalling. The processor now runs 30°C cooler. I bought the 2g size as I only need a small amount. Simple application from a syringe.

I5 CPU replaced with I7-3770K and old paste replaced with MX-4. Just use a humble Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus with 1 fan. Overclocked to 3.7 GHz, the idle is now 36 C, and when running Prime95 at 100%, the CPU stays stable at 56 C. A 3.7GHz i5 will run Prime95 at 100% at 68C, a nice improvement over the MX-4. Recommended. Edit: Increase OC to 4.2GHz. Still idling at 36°C, 100% CPU at 63°C. MX-4 and Cooler Master work great.

Replaced CPU and needed heatsink thermal compound. It works flawlessly and the CPU temperature stays within the normal operating range even when pressed.

I bought this to use on my original Xbox because the thermal paste was 14-15 years old and needed replacing (it was so dry it could easily be mistaken for a torn thermal pad ) . After dusting, cleaning the old paste with 99% isopropyl alcohol, and applying it, its temperature dropped about 10°C (from 65-70°C, which is high, to 55-60°C, which is normal). ).
