Description of πŸ”Œ ARCTIC MX 4 2019 Enhanced Performance and Durability for Industrial Electrical Applications

WELL PROVEN QUALITY: The design of our thermal paste packagings has changed several times, the formula of the composition has remained unchanged, so our MX pastes have stood for high quality. EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE: ARCTIC MX-4 thermal paste is made of carbon microparticles, guaranteeing extremely high thermal conductivity. This ensures that heat from the CPU/GPU is dissipated quickly & efficiently. SAFE APPLICATION: The MX-4 is metal-free and non-electrical conductive which eliminates any risks of causing short circuit, adding more protection to the CPU and VGA cards. HIGH DURABILITY: In contrast to metal and silicon thermal compound, the MX-4 does not compromise over time. Once applied, you do not need to apply it again as it will last at least for 8 years. EASY TO APPLY: With an ideal consistency, the MX-4 is very easy to use, even for beginners.

The fan then turns on less frequently on the Thinkpad T440p

I bought a used T440p and noticed that the CPU fan spins at high speed, especially when scrolling up and down in Safari. A lot of thermal paste was applied to the CPU and heat spreader and it looked fine, but I wiped it off, applied my low profile thermal paste and put it back in. No changes; The fan turned on at the same frequency as before. After doing a little research online, I found this and another thermal paste with an almost cult following. I simply replaced the thermal paste with this…

Pros
  • . EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE: ARCTIC MX-4 thermal compound consists of carbon microparticles and guarantees extremely high thermal conductivity. This ensures that heat is dissipated from the CPU/GPU quickly and efficiently.
Cons
  • I'll add later

I replaced the old OEM thermal paste on my late 2010 Lenovo ThinkStation S20 with this one. I've tried the "5 point" method and the "pea sized ball" method (using a slightly larger ball due to the larger chipset/IHS on the old hexacore Xeon W3680 processor). I did before and after measurements and noted the ambient temperature with the BIOS set to "normal" fan control. I found: 1) Using the "pea sphere" method outperformed the "5 point" method on my Xeon2) At an ambient temperature of 80ΒΊF…

Pros
  • EASY TO USE: Thanks to the perfect consistency, MX-4 is very easy to use even for beginners
Cons
  • There are other interesting possibilities.

One of the best no matter what the tests say.

OK SO I just built 2 new Ryzen 9 3900X systems which I want air cooled because I don't want to mess with water. I bought a Noctura NH-U14S and added a second fan to optimize cooling. I used the included paste and the temperatures were great, never exceeding 76C with all cores at 4.1GHz for 15+ miles. I wanted to try other pastes and looked at TG Kryo but saw that it breaks at temperatures up to 80Β°C and then I looked more closely at Noctura paste and saw that it would probably need to be…

Pros
  • HIGH DURABILITY: Unlike metal and silicon based thermal paste, MX-4 thermal paste does not degrade over time. Once applied you don't need to reapply as it lasts at least 8 years
Cons
  • No performance
