Maybe the last oil change mechanic overtightened the filter housing. However, this wrench did not grip the case well enough, and I used this tool to break the tab on the case. I doubt it will fit as well as the original Toyota filter wrench. Chances are a reputable mechanic will just take the filter off and throw the thing away.

If like me you've removed the oil filter cartridge, look no further. Much better than wrenches sold at Walmart, Adv Auto and AutoZone. This filter is durable. It also has cutouts so you can better secure the filter cartridge. Fast delivery and cheap for the product. You'll never need a key for your 4 cylinder car again.

I used to buy a parts stock option at my local 'irish' joint. It was very disappointing. I had to touch it up a bit with a grinder and even it still fit casually. Great for stuck 4 port oil filter housings. I decided to start changing the oil myself as I found that the bottom guard bolts have cross threads from Toyota oilmen. They also attached my oil filter housing so tightly that I had to use a hammer to remove it. This thing is amazing because it didn't slip off or the tabs on the case broke, which is an issue I've been concerned about reading the forums.

Bought this kit for my 4RUNNER and everything is fine. Maybe better than most filter keys. The wrench is made of better material than most I've read about. The drain hose, on the other hand, isn't all that crazy. When trying to apply it to the case the oil started dripping and it was a bit difficult to screw it up while the oil was running down your hand and arm. I was impressed by how well this head fits onto Toyota's patented bs oil filter cover. It fits snugly, won't bind or slip, and can handle the torque required to remove an oil filter that the LOF brake set MUCH tight. For less than $20, it's worth it! In addition, it looks chic.
