Looks good but quite expensive

I used a 2 speed madison box with a screw on the inside, they are good and cheap. I really like this one too and the design is good but if you're replacing a few things it's not the best value for money. If it gets cheaper in terms of performance, I'll give 5 stars.

Nice big box: exit boxes

Installation was easy although it does move back a bit when tightening the screws. I had to do this multiple times before it was right. Although it took some time, it was easy. The box has a good volume, which is what I needed. In general, the box is good if there are a lot of wires. It's a little flimsy, but it's ok for my use.

  • An absolute legend

  • Minor issues

Much better than those little flaps.

These are great for adding a second "group" to an original "new work" installation from a group. A "new job" is when you see the studs in the wall and pound in the back box with the nails attached. In the past, the "old job" was done with boxes that had little flaps that needed to be tightened, essentially clamping the drywall around the box. Good in strength but nowhere near as strong as they are. I use them whenever I want to add a second "course" to what I already have, e.g. For example…

This is really cool stuff. I put my hoe in the wall.

This is a really cool item. I stick the hoe in the wall next to the hairpin. To use the box available at my local store I would have to remove the patch and pole covering the counter or enlarge the opening. The drop wing wasn't deep enough and this box is easier to install and safer. If you want to add a drawer, grab it, find a bolt, cut a hole to size - perfect.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires a socket

Very easy to install on an old work box

The box was very easy to install and I didn't have to cut too big a hole in the drywall to install it. However, the plastic box wasn't as strong and thick as I expected. Also, due to the design of the plastic strain relief tabs, the included strain relief holes do not fit a 6/3 Romex, even though it is a 3/4" hole. 4" metal clamp, which was also not possible due to the shape of the box. I ended up ditching the strain relief clip temporarily and will probably be looking for another box to…

If you've never tried an Arlington F10# series box for repair, this is worth a try. They must be mounted on studs, but that makes them so much better than drywall wing boxes - a much safer sensor box and better suited to working with high current outlets (where more plugging/unplugging is required, force is required). They're best used when you need to add an outlet or move to an existing location and don't want to mount another box just a few inches (looks silly in general). Assuming the…
