but that's not the price because

the box itself is ok. This is not a precision jewelry box, but the price is not like a jewelry box either. The problem is that it's too short for my pencils unless they have been sharpened a bit. I'm sorry I didn't measure more accurately, but you can assume the pencil case can hold pens.

Perfect fit for my needs

Actual measurements were very accurate and the inside length for storing pens was 7 inches which is quite adequate. It's only 1 1/8 tall so it fits easily in a backpack or laptop bag without adding a huge bulge or added bulk. I can see some models being a little tricky to open and close, but this overall sliding and locking design it is good, y i have no problems and i like it reliable. It's a ball bearing that pushes out as the case slides over it and works great. I would say it can easily…

An elegant storage for your art pencils!

I have several different artificial pencils and they were lying on my desk. This little wooden storage box is just what I needed. The lid movement was a little stiff at first, but a little candle wax on the sides of the lid solved the problem. It's definitely durable and beautifully made. If you want to store a large amount of pens, this will NOT work. but for an artist who loves sketches, it borders on perfection. Oh, and we're in Las Vegas right now. I ordered the item yesterday afternoon and

Excellent pencil case for the price

This is a good alternative to plastic pencil cases. It was wrapped in plastic, thick enough to protect the wood, but wasn't overloaded like many other products. It is durable and well composed of natural wood. It's small, but I have no problem putting my regular #2, my Blackwing art pencils, or various pens in it. I would recommend this if you want a wooden pencil case to carry around some writing/drawing supplies. If you need something to hold a pack of pens, I'll take something bigger…

I couldn't be happier!

I bought this box in April and since then it has become my faithful companion. As a result, I'm making 1000% more life drawings than ever before. All I ever need to bring is Wednesday. It is very durable and at the same time very attractive in its simplicity. I can take it out in public places without drawing too much attention. I like the rounded end idea. I can slip it into a jacket, vest, or pant pocket with no sharp edges that won't hurt or pierce me. It fits easily in the side pocket of a…

A ball bearing holds the sliding lid in place during transit

I couldn't open this box at first either but I had a large box from these folks and I knew what they thought their tree boxes are doing pretty well , so I kept looking to see what I was doing wrong. Finally I read the red paper wrapped around the box. "A ball bearing keeps the sliding lid closed during transit." However, it took me a minute to figure out what to do: push the rounded end of the lid down and forward to open the box. It helps a little if you grab the finger notch on the square end
