My teenage daughter is a very gifted artist which means her father and I spend a lot of money on her art supplies. Their markers alone are $9 each! So these wonderful books are very valuable, they go well with her markers and she really loves them! There's a lot of value and it's hard to get a teenager's approval for anything and she approves!

The paper is nice and light. So far I've used it with acrylic, gouache and pastel and they all work well. For now, I'm using the back, smooth side of the page that's painted with acrylic. So far there is almost nothing on the structured side. I want this paper in a glued notebook. I was disappointed with how the side comes off. No matter how much I fold the paper along the perforation, it doesn't come off cleanly. Since I still have to trim this edge by hand, I better detach it from the spiral.

I liked that the surface was smoother and had many sides, but for this paper there is too much watercolor on wet paper even when used fairly dry. I also have post 5x7 toilet paper books and those pages fold too but not as much as this one which is only 110 pounds. The crease was less noticeable and 4 color samples were fine. I think this paper is better for dry materials. It just stretches too much to get wet and then doesn't shrink back flat when it dries. I would really buy water.

I was apprehensive about getting a sketchbook online as I usually go to Michael or AC Moore to get stuff because I'm very sensitive to paper types (don't know why, just some make me cringe as soon as I touch them .), but this sketchbook is very good. It has very good thick paper which I need because I like to color my work with copic markers. Now the copies go to the other side of the same page as you can see in the second picture.
