I love these shoes, these are my first Ascics. Short laces are perfect for the court as you don't want long laces tripping over them while playing. I can double knot them and they don't bother me. The hold is perfect. I use them for tennis and pickleball. The comfortable, supportive design allows for worry-free play, not to mention ankle flexion injuries when walking side-by-side. I play racquetball, which requires a lot of turns and stops. In shoes of this type, the elastic at the bottom is usually separate from the fabric.
