When weighing the cost and quantity of razors

Ensures a close shave without irritation after the first 4-5 shaves. After 5-6 shaves with the same shaving cream, razor burn begins to appear on the neck. Slightly more expensive compared to the Shark, Dorco and Derby but I have found these 3 blades typically only shave 2-3 times before needing replacement. The cost of a shave stays the same all year round because you change your blades more often. Over the last ten years after trying these 4 blades plus Feather and a couple of Gillettes I…

Pros
  • There's something in there
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

What happened to the Astra Blades?

I'm not too picky about blades but the quality of the Astra has dropped a lot lately. These blades are dull, they claw and tug at my facial hair and worse. The surface of the blade is uneven, in some places it cuts more, in others less. I have been using Astra blades for many years. Older blades (sharp and smooth) have the brand name written in black on both sides. The new blades (which are awful) are lightly engraved with the brand name on one side and are blank on the back. Some people wonder

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Minor issues

The old quality is gone.

I've used it reliably for years. In the latest batch they appear to have changed the manufacturing processes - see attached photos. The new blades pull and pull and scrape where the old ones were flawless. After a shave, they dull unusably (while old ones can last most of the week). I will not buy these again

Pros
  • Useful beyond its intended purpose
Cons
  • Low maintainability

Really sad gentlemen suitable for cartridges and refills

It's a dark day and I should have listened to other reviews. I have used the Astra for many years, it WAS a great blade. But in these times of corporate greed, they decided to change the product. Why change a product that was already great? It looks like the blades have gotten thinner which is causing problems. There is so much flexibility in these blades. Unfortunately, these blades are non-refundable. It's time to look for a new blade. What were you thinking, Astra?

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Empty

Negative reviews are justified

I was hesitant to try these razors due to the many poor quality reviews. I gave them a chance anyway. The first shave was pretty good, no nicks or anything. I thought I was clean, a few shaves later I put a new blade in. Absolutely terrible. I mean, the blade just ripped out my facial hair, wasn't smooth at all. I had cuts all over my body. I tried another damn it and got the same result. There was a bloody mess on my skin. Looks like I'll have to find a new brand of razor.

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • So-so

Great blades for the price!

I recently started wet shaving this year and have been using the Van Der Hagen blades that came with the safety razor but there are only 5 of them so I looked for a box of good quality blades and they seem to be the best deal you can get. Among several other brands, Astras seem to be among the best in terms of quality and sharpness, and are said to be right in between Personas and Feathers, so I figured they were the best mid-range for beginner wet razors. A slim box that doesn't take up much…

Pros
  • Easy to set up
Cons
  • is embarrassing
